MIGenWeb BENNETT, Fred E. The Belding Banner, Thursday, 13 November 1947 Headline: “Death Calls Farmer After Brief Illness” After an illness of only a few days, Fred E. Bennett, a life long resident of Orleans township, died Sunday at his home on the farm on which he was born, July 31, 1867. He was married in 1889 and his wife preceded him in death several years ago. His survivors are one son Roy, at home, and one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Durfey, of Grand Rapids, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 o’clock at Fales-Huffman Funeral Home, Rev. H. S. Ellis officiating, and burial was in Orleans cemetery. Pall bearers were Rollie Young, Ernest Leach, G. E. Peterson, Nelson Haysmer, Chas. Stoddard, and Walter Yeomans. **Ionia Daily Sentinel, 14 November 1947 Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Fales Huffman funeral home in Belding for Fred Bennett, 80, who died Sunday morning at his Orleans farm home where he was born. The Rev. H. S. Ellis officiated with interment in Orleans cemetery. His bearers were Nelson Haysmer, Charles Stoddard, Rollie Young, Ernest Leach, Walter Yeomans and G. E. Petersen. Surviving Mr. Bennett are one son Roy; a daughter, Hazel Durfey of Grand Rapids; 3 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
