Born in Ionia May 9, 1916, the son of Albert and Minnie Bennett and attended the Ionia schools. He served with the army five years stationed in the Hawaiian Island during World War II. He was a coal dock worker and fireman for the railroad and the past 25 years he worked for the Post Cereal company in Battle Creek. Among his survivors are his wife, Virginia, two sons, Tim and Terry and a daughter, Tina; five grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Minnie Neilsen of Ionia; two brothers, James Bennett of Lyons and Otis Bennett of Ionia; five sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hart of Battle Creek, Mrs. Wilma Whorley and Mrs. Donna Matthews of Ionia, Mrs. Joan Melchert of Muir and Mrs. Nancy Helmes of Ionia.
