Dorothy Jean Bennett, 89, of Ionia passed away Jan. 13, 2015, at home surrounded
by her family.  She was born Sept. 17, 1925, in Lakeview, Michigan, the daughter
of Samuel and Karin (Christiansen) Neilsen.  Dorothy married Otis Bennett March
3, 1945.  He preceded her in death in 1993.  She loved gardening, band concerts
and she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Susan (Gerald) DenHouten of Ionia;
grandchildren, Karen (Brian) Neeley of Ionia, Wendy Gillman of Ionia, Tammy
Husted of Ionia, Bettie (Robert) White of Ionia, Todd (Jennifer) DenHouten of
Ionia and Jamie (Marti) DenHouten of Lansing; sister, Marjorie (George)
Chickering of Fenwick; and great grandchildren, Ryan, Arron, Robby, Brittney,
Cody, Katie, Dennis, Hunter, Baily and Caleb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Albert Bennett;
daughter, Mary Bennett; brothers, Ken Neilsen and Carlton Neilsen; and sisters,
Margarita Baker and Mattie Brooks.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at Lake Funeral Home in
Ionia with Pastor Shane Prewitt officiating.  Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
 Visitation will be held Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial
contributions may be made to her family.
