Ionia Sentinel, 11 Feb 1971

William Russell Bennett, 50, of Nickle Plate road, died suddenly Wednesday 
morning at his home.  Coroner Richard Hull ruled death due to self-inflicted 
gunshot wounds.

He was born January 13, 1921, in Lebanon township, Clinton county, the son of 
William and Phoebe Pritchard Bennett.  In 1941 he was married to Virginia 
Werner of Perrinton.

He worked for the City of Ionia as a cement mason until two years ago when he 
retired to farming.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia; two sons, William M. Bennett with the army in 
Turkey, Werner Bennett at home; one daughter, Mrs. James Fox of Ionia; 1 
grandchild; three half brothers, Stanley Preston of Lowell, Elfred Preston of 
Hubbardston and Howard Preston of Belding; one sister, Mrs. Ireta Bogart of 
Kalkaska.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Shaw-Rivett-Hull funeral home in Muir.
