She came to Michigan with her parents when a girl of about 10 years of age and lived for a period of time at Maple Corners, north of Portland. After her parents moved to Hubbardston, she became acquainted with Charles K. Bennitt, whom she married on April 7th, 1877. She has since resided in Hubbardston and entered into the community activities to a very full extent. She was president of the Woman’s Relief Corps, a member of the Maccabees, a worker in the Library Association is now a life member of the Eastern Star Lodge, and has been during her life an active worker in the Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church of which she has been a member since early life. She liked to read and when not busy about other activities could be found enjoying a book or magazine. She has been in failing health for the past two years and slipped quietly from her earthly life on Saturday, October 1st, 1938 at the home of her son in Hubbardston after 82 years, 10 months and 18 days of activity. Her husband died in 1920 and a son James Gordon died in infancy. She is survived by a daughter Mrs. Alice B. Mohardt, of Lansing; a son, Lyle R. Bennett of Hubbardston; two grandsons, Charles Mohardt, of Detroit, and Foster Mohardt of Lexington, Virginia; two great grandchildren, one brother, James England of Hubbardston, two sisters, Mrs. L. Kipp of Greenville, and Mrs. B. Coryelle of Carson City, besides other relatives and her many friends. Funeral service were held at the home Monday, October 3rd with Rev. John W.
