The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Friday, August 26, 1955


Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Stanton 
First Baptist church for Dr. R. L. Bentley, 85, a doctor at Stanton for the 
past 50 years.  

Dr. Bentley, a native of Ionia, died following a heart attack at his home 
Wednesday.  He was born in Ionia on August 18, 1870.  He received his medical 
training at the University of Michigan and was graduated in 1895.  He also 
operated a lumber business at Stanton for several years and was the former 
owner of the Cody hotel at Grand Rapids.

Surviving is a daughter Mrs. Selma A. Black of Stanton and a brother Jay 
Bentley of Clear Lake, S.D.  Mrs. Bentley died in 1947.  Burial will be at 
Forest Hill cemetery.
