Roger was able to come and spend his final six years at his childhood home with special caregivers Malissa Bentley and very special caregiver great granddaughter Kaylee Bentley. He is survived by son Joe Bentley and wife Malissa of Ionia, son Jeff Bentley and wife Lynn of Florida; son Monty Bentley and wife Bernadette of Texas; daughter Lynn Haney and husband Mike of Texas; sisters Barb and Jane of Portage, Michigan; and brother Richard Bentley of North Carolina. In Roger’s early days he was one of the first modern day excavators in Ionia. He was a prison guard, and he also worked as a printer at R. L. Polk. He was a master builder of over 40 years. He had extraordinary talent in building and built over 1,000 buildings. Roger loved fishing and tinkering with small engines. He also liked buying and selling items. He was a natural downhill skier. Roger loved country music and he was a poet that loved reciting poems. He was the last member of the Geek Gang. Special mentor was Howard Kelsey. He will be deeply missed by special sons Joe Bentley, Jeff Bentley, and grandson Robert Bentley. Roger Jay Bentley was a great-great man!
