Ionia County News, 3 Nov 1949

Mrs.  Josephine (Gazella) Bergman, 49, died suddenly at her home in Ionia
township at 7:45 Sunday evening, Oct. 30.

She was born in Ionia March 5, 1900, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Gazella.  She attended SS. Peter and Paul Academy and lived in and near Ionia
until 1925 when she married John L. Lowe and moved to Saginaw.  After Mr. Lowe’s
death in 1940, she returned to Ionia and in 1947 married Alton Bergman, who
survives her.

Surviving besides Mr. Bergman are two sons, John J. Lowe, Ionia, and Desmond A.
Lowe at home; two brothers, Louis Gazella of Grand Rapids and Stanley Gazella of
Ionia; a sister, Mrs. Robert Dutton, and a niece, Miss Betty Dutton, both of
Jackson.

Funeral service was held Wednesday at the Stone-Kauffman Funeral Home. 
Interment was in Balcom Cemetery.
