The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, November 1, 1956


Mrs. Margaret C. Bergy, 72, of 325 East Main street, Ionia, died Wednesday 
afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Ionia County Memorial hospital where she had been 
admitted early Wednesday morning.  She had been ill for the past three years.

Born in Mecosta county June 19, 1884 she was the daughter of Henry and Margaret 
Beemer and lived in Charlotte for 17 years.  In 1902 she was married to H. E. 
Bergy and they moved from Charlotte to Ionia in 1904 where they owned and 
operated a variety store until 1927 when it was sold.

Mrs. Bergy made her home with her son and daughter-in-law since the death of 
Mr. Bergy in 1930.  She was a member of the First Methodist church, former 
member of the Woman’s Literary club, and was also a member of the Treble Cleff 
club.  

Surviving are one son, H. L. Bergy and one granddaughter, Margaret Sue.

Funeral services will be conducted at Boynton’s funeral home Saturday afternoon 
at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Heath Goodwin officiating.  Interment will be in 
Highland Park Mausoleum.
