Sister Elizabeth was born Oct. 18, 1901 in Westphalia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Trierweiler. They moved to Portland in 1903. Sister Elizabeth entered the Sisters of St. Joseph order in 1924 and took her final vows in 1930. A registered nurse and graduate of the Borgess School of Nursing, Sister Elizabeth served in the operating rooms of Borgess for 18 years. She was administrator there from 1947 to 1953, after which she became a council member of the executive board of the Sisters of St. Joseph for four years. Sister Elizabeth served six years as administrator of Mercy hospital in Monroe and returned to Borgess in 1965 as head nurse on the third floor. In 1968, she was assigned to work at Nazareth until she became ill in March. Sister Elizabeth is survived by six sisters, Sister Evangeline Trierweiler of Lansing, Mrs. Bernita Wilcox, Mrs. Agnes Gross and Miss Rita Trierweiler, all of Portland, Mrs. Regina Albert of Waupun, Wis. And Florence Schindorf of Belding; and two brothers, Leo Trierweiler of Portland and Sylvester Trierweiler of Belding. Burial was in Kalamazoo.
