Michael A. Bernier, 59, of Macomb, formerly of Ionia, passed away on Wed., June 
5, 2002.  He was born on Dec. 31, 1942 in Ionia, the son of Jacques and Noreen 
(Hortan) Bernier.  Mr. Bernier was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Paul Bernier; and nephew, 
Michael Joe Moon.  Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Susan Bernier of Macomb; 
son, Michael A. Bernier II of Warren; daughter, Danielle (Chris) Cafuk of 
Almont; five grandchildren; mother, Noreen Bernier of Ionia; brothers, Andre 
Bernier of Florida, Pierre Bernier and Joe (Nancy) Bernier, both of Ionia; 
three sisters, Donna Bernier, Sheila (Mike) Charles and Nola Acke, all of 
Ionia; and many nieces and nephews.

The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. F. Melvin Fox, 
Pastor at 11 a.m., Saturday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rite of 
Committal following at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.  The family will receive 
friends from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday at the Cook 
Funeral Homes of Ionia - Myers Memorial Chapel, 148 E. Main Street.  The Rosary 
will be prayed at 8 p.m., Friday.  For those desiring, memorial contributions 
may be made to the National Kidney Foundation in memory of Michael A. Bernier.
