Bernier, 86, of Ionia, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2004. She was born on August 10, 1917 in Grand Rapids the daughter of James and Nona (VanCamp) Horgan. "You are my mother, You're my best friend" echoes in our hearts. We celebrate your life today while loving you forever. Nine children, each one made to feel special and most loved. Yet you made it seem so easy. How did you do it mom? With never a complaint or thought for yourself. We already miss "Your Irish eyes a smiling" and your are "Our morning spring." Noreen lived most of her 86 years in Ionia making many friends and touching so many lives. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed decorating her yard on every holiday for everyone to see. Her hobby of collecting dolls would light up her face with the arrival of each new one. She loved her dogs and cats and feeding her squirrels. Above all she loved life itself. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlita; two sons, Michael A. and Paul Bernier; grandson, Michael Joseph Moon; a baby girl granddaughter. Surviving are six children, Andre (Margie Byars) Bernier of Pensacola, Florida, Pierre Bernier of Ionia, Donna Bernier of Ionia, Nola Ake of Ionia, Joseph (Nancy) Bernier of Belding, and Shiela (Mike) Charles of Ionia; daughter-in-law Susan Bernier of Macomb Township; grandchildren, Daniel Bernier, Wanda Adams, Jacqueline Buffinet, Dianna Pounds, Becky Feick, Penny Boyman, Adria Krail, Arianna Bernier, Michael (Anita) Bernier II, Danielle (Chris) Cafuk, Max and Renay Ake, Michael Charles II, Rianne Charles, Debbie Cahill; 32 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, James D. Horgan of Elmgrove, Wisconsin; sister, Darla Horgan of Traverse City; aunt, Bonnie Kinsman of Ionia; and best friend Julia Spratto. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Melvin Fox, Pastor, at 1 p.m. Saturday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ionia, with Rite of Committal following at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Ionia. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Friday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia County Animal Shelter in memory of Mrs. Noreen J. Bernier.
