Ionia Sentinel Standard, 15 Oct 1979

Vera Best, 96, of Saranac, died Sunday at the Ionia Manor.  She was born in
South Dakota, Nov. 11, 1884.  Her husband, Arthur, preceded her in death in
1964.  She held the first driver’s license in the state of Michigan.

She is survived by a step sister, Mrs. Cole, of Ionia.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home with the Rev. James
Franks of Galilee Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will be in Saranac Cemetery.
