Bever, 76, died Monday morning at St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Rapids where he had ben hospitalized since September 5 from an extended illness. Born in Odessa township February 22, 1898, he was son of the Freeman and Lois Gillette Bever and a lifelong resident of the area. October 25, 1918 he was married to Flossie Carter and they lived on a farm on Tasker road. Surviving are a wife, Flossie; son, Dean Bever of rural Lake Odessa; two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Tasker of Lake Odessa and Mrs. Lois Hendrick of Saranac; 11 grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Edna Klingman of Lake Odessa. A son, Pvt. Marshall Bever, was killed overseas during World War II. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel at Lake Odessa. Rev. Charles Dunbar will officiate and interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
