Helen Beyer, 101, of Ionia, formerly of Belding, passed away Jan. 27, 2013. 
Helen was born in Nunica on April 13, 1911, the daughter of Thomas and Violet
(Coates) Walsh.  She married Ernest Beyer on Nov. 29, 1928, in Lowell.

Helen was preceded in death by husband, William Ernest “Ernie” Beyer; son, John
Thomas “Jackie”; grandson, Sean Mooney; son-in-law, Fred Towersey; brothers,
Howard, Walter, Martin and Patrick; and sisters, Isabel Hansen, Francis Stanke,
Margaret Covert and Doris Swanson.

She was the beloved mother of Dorisa (Jack) Hamm of Ann Arbor, Ron (Jean) Beyer
of Saranac, Mary Ann (Gordon) Galloway of Morley, Bill (Julia) Beyer of Ionia,
Judy (Fred) Schafer of Arizona, Joan (Jim) Penn of Florida, Janet Mooney of
Virginia, and Lynn (Chuck) Wedra of Arizona.  Helen was blessed with 30
grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson with another
one on the way.  Also surviving are a brother, Robert (Evelyn) Walsh; sister,
Colleen Ayers of Ionia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was a life member of the Belding VFW, a member of St. Peter and Paul
Church and St. James Church in Lake Placid, Fla.  Helen loved her family and
enjoy traveling to visit them.  She loved to read, do crosswords, play cards,
crochet and cross-stitch.  She was an avid bingo player and especially enjoyed
the yearly trips with her daughters to various parts of the country.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial in honor of her life will be held in
Ionia in early summer.
