Mrs. John F. Bible Crosses the Great Divide. Mrs. John F. Bible passed away at 5 o’clock this morning, and thus again are many friends called upon to bow the head of sorrow and pay a farewell tribute to a respected woman. Mrs. Bible was taken seriously ill about ten days ago, only a day or so after Mr. Bible had gone into the Upper country on his annual hunting trip. Her brother, Dr. D.E. Bell, of Hopkinsville, Ky., was summoned, and Mr. Bible arrived quickly, but the patient failed steadily until Thursday night of last week, when there was a very perceptible brightening in her condition which was a source of hope, and she held this improvement for several days, so that she was able to recognize the brothers and sister who had come to her bedside, but recovery was not to be, and she passed to her Maker in that firm Christian faith which did so much toward assisting her to bear the burden of her illness, and which she conveyed to the numerous neighbors whom she called in to bid the last fond farewell. Mrs. Bible was one of a family of nine children, and is the first one of these to pass to the unknown world, following her parents, both of whom died about two years ago. With the bereaved husband she came to Ionia in 1893 - 17 years ago. Two daughters, Susan and Mary Belle are also bereaved of a good mother’s care and confidence. She transferred her church membership to the Ionia Church of Christ, and from the beginning was not only a devoted worshipper, but a helpful worker as well. She was aged 42 years, and was born at Hopkinsville, Ky., where the parents are buried and where the other children still make their home, though all are grown to maturity. She was a faithful wife, a good neighbor and a kind mother, and the neighborhood feels in part the loss which the bereaved relatives have to bear, and they have the sympathy of all in this hour of their irreparable sorrow. The funeral service will be attended at the home on East Washington street, at 2 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G.W. Moore of the Church of Christ and W.K. Spencer, D.D. of the Presbyterian church, and the remains will be placed in the Wagar vault for the present. As arranged, the singing at the home will be by Mr. and Mrs. Thane Benedict, and the bearers will be Messrs. C.B. Wardle, W.L. Beals, W.S. Lister, W.D. Reynolds, A. DeKwak, H.B. Webber, T.A. Carten, Fred E. Arnold, H.G. Thornton, and J.F. Quigley of Grand Rapids. The brothers and sister who were with her during her last hours are: Dr. D.E. Bell, John H. Bell, Webb C. Bell and Miss Jennie Bell, all of Hopkinsville, Ky.
