He was born March 20, 1904 in Dallas Township, the son of Frantz and Mary (Arens) Bierstetel. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and past member of the Westphalia Band. He was a retired self-employed carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Leona; two daughters, Monica (Harry) Hersch of Gaylord and Shirley (William) Halfman of Pewamo; seven sons, Leon (Annette) and James (Jane) Bierstetel, both of Westphalia, David (Judy) and Alvin (Jan) Bierstetel, both of Pewamo, Bernard (Christine), Paul (Kathy) and Robert (Susan) Bierstetel, all of Fowler, 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 201 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia, with the Rev. James M. Novak officiating. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Mary's Catholic Monday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited on Monday at 8 p.m. and Tuesday at 3 p.m. with Scripture Service at 8 p.m. The family is being served by the Gorsline-Runciman Co.
