Bignell, 72, who passed away at the Veterans' Facility in Grand Rapids on June 14, 1949. He was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Bignell was born in Smyrna, Ionia Couty, Michigan on April 17, 1877 and moved to the old farm home southeast of Palo with his parents in 1890. In 1900 he went to Oregon. In 1910 he went to Custer SD where he remained until his enlistment in the United States Army. He married Reva Fox of Ionia in 1930. She preceded him in death in 1940. He was a loyal member of the Hubbardston Legion Post and the Ionia County DAV. Surviving are two sons, James and Ellis of Hubbardston; and five stepchildren, Chas Fos of Palo, Lewis Fox of Ionia, Max Fox of Hubbardston, Mrs. Thelma Rayno of Henderson Michigan and Mrs. Carrie Gallup of Ionia; and two brothers, Ellis and Claude of Palo.
