H. Seymour Bills Dies August 21

Horatio Seymour Bills, 80, for 72 years an Ionia city resident and Ionia city
constable, died suddenly at his home on North Jackson street at 4:12? p.m. Sunday.

[Unreadable] . . . heart attack Saturday and on Sunday suffered another about
noon from which he did not recover.

At the time of his death he was constable of Ionia city, a position he had held
for many years.  He was active in city politics while a resident of Ionia and at
one time formed the Ionia Independent party which is still in existence, but
which has been inactive.  Bills had run for numerous public offices in Ionia
city over a period of many years.

Born in Montcalm

He was born September 8, 1868 in Evergreen township in Montcalm county.  He came
to Ionia city 72 years ago.  He was married to Miss Euella Hutchinson September
27, 1894.  They had four children, three boys and a girl.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Margueritte Heiney of Muskegon, three
sons, Thomas S. Bills of Grand Rapids, George V. Bills of Greenville, and Robert
H. Bills of Howard City, 21 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Evangelical church Wednesday
afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. A.R. Kuehn officiating.  Burial will be at
Highland Park Cemetery.  The body will be at the Myers Funeral home until 1:30
p.m. Wednesday when the body will lie in state at the Evangelical church until
time of the funeral services.
