A former Belding resident, Mrs. Harriett Jane Bird, 91, of 5688 Vining, 
Greenville, died Saturday at Altona following an extended illness.  She was 
born in County Cork, Ireland, May 29, 1878 and was also a former resident of 
Bedford City, Va., and Lakeview.  A member of Belding United Methodist church, 
she also belonged to Graylers, Blue Star Mothers, Farm Bureau, Otisco Farmers 
club, and Green Community aid.

Her maiden name was Harriett Jane Jennings and her husband Samuel Bird died in 
1947.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Lincoln of Greenville, and Mrs. Don 
Ecklund of East Tawas; five sons, Jess J. Bird of Knoxville, Tenn., Wilford and 
Richard S., both of Belding, George H. of Greenville and James B. of Fresno, 
Calif.; 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Bern Jennings of 
Essex, England.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Charles M. Courser funeral home 
in Belding.  Rev. Ross Tracey will officiate and interment will be at Green 
cemetery.  Family will be at the funeral home Monday from 7 until 9 and Tuesday 
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Bearers will be Jess, Wilford, George, Richard and 
William Bird, and Russell Lincoln.
