July 15, 1954 JONAS BIRMAN DIED MONDAY Jonas Birman, 61, died unexpectedly at the home of his son Lyle at Rockford, Tuesday. He with his wife had been living in Detroit with her daughter and husband and he had made the trip to Rockford on business. He and his son Lyle hunted night crawlers Monday night and had retired late. Because of a heart condition, they thought they would let him rest, but the middle of the forenoon when he failed to appear his daughter in-law investigated and found him dead in bed. Mr. Birman was a local resident having lived on the former Claud Carpenter and the Wachs farms. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Lyle of Rockford and Russell of Grand Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Forest Aalderink of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Emery Fauble of Cadillac, three brothers, Estevan of Chicago, ill.; Urias of Lake Lansing and Clarence of Lake Odessa; two sisters Mrs. Charles Erickson of Ionia and Mrs. Harold Clark of Charlevoix and 17 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 at the Blanchard funeral home, Rockford with burial in the Bowne Mennonite cemetery.
