Harry James Birt, 54, of Ionia, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Ingham 
Regional Medical Center.  He was born June 28, 1950 in Champaign, Illinois the 
son of Adam and Mary (Baker) Birt. 

He married Betty Miller October 2, 1976 in Saranac. He flew helicopters in the 
Army during Vietnam.

Harry is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Betty Marie Birt of Orleans; 
sons, David and Shana Leary of Ionia, Jerry Miller of Orleans, David Birt of 
Orleans; daughter, Penny Birt of Orleans; special grandma, Mamie and Leroy 
Schnicke of Orleans; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Holli, Kylie, Riley, Blake; 
special friend of 40 years, Bob Ockert; many nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, at Shiloh Community Church 
with Rev. Ken Harger officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 7 to 8:30 
p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
