The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, December 23, 1964
Fred D. Bishop, 75, died suddenly at 6 o’clock Wednesday morning at his home, 
527 Grand street, South Ionia.  He was born in Ionia county March 5, 1889 and 
with the exception of a few years in Lakeview, lived his entire life in the 
county.  He had resided at the present residence 38 years.  His parents were 
the late Frank and Angie Buxton Bishop.  

Mr. Bishop was employed more than 30 years with Ionia County Road commission, 
retiring in 1960.  He was married in 1911 to Elva Davis of Mecosta county who 
died in June, 1961.  

Surviving are two sons, Melvin and DeVilo of Ionia; six grandchildren and 11 
great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted at Boynton funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m. 
with the Rev. John Tennyson of First Baptist church officiating.  Interment 
will be in the family lot at Easton cemetery.
