Bishop passed away Sunday, July 2, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Dailey, after having failed noticeably the past few weeks. She had attained the remarkable age of 90 years, having celebrated her 90th birthday just ten days previous. Frances C. Harris was the daughter of James and Charlotte Harris and was born in Stowe, Vermont, in the year 1843. She spent her early girlhood days in the rugged state of Vermont, forming there the depth of character to help her meet the battles of life. From Vermont the family moved to the state of New York. Her early education began in that state and was completed in a college in Norwich, Connecticut. She was married June 19, 1866 to Lucius B. Bishop at Ontario, Wayne Co., New York. Three daughters were born to them, Mrs. Nellie Dailey, Mrs. Charlotte Goolthrite and Jessie B. Bishop, the latter passing away in 1931, also one grandson, Frank G. Dailey. The family moved to Michigan in 1870 and since then have resided in this vicinity. Mrs. Bishop was a great reader and into every gateway of her keen sense of perception there flowed many delightful impressions of the wonders existing in this world. The kind and unusually sincere character of Mrs. Bishop endeared her to all who knew her. She retained her unusual mentality and health in a great degree up until the last few weeks. The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dailey, on Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. E. M. Roush officiating, assisted by Rev. Robert Geiger. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the west side cemetery at Hubbardston.
