Mr. Bishop was 83 years old an old soldier, a member of the local post of the G.A.R. The Funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church, Rev. Thos. Laity preached and the choir sang. The GAR took charge of the services after the sermon, and their part was conducted largely by R.C. Blair, acting as post chaplain and Robert Musgrove as post commander. The remains were interred at Lakeside. OBITUARY John D. Bishop was born May 20, 1833 in the state of New York, town of Niles. He came to Michigan in 1843 and was married to Lucinda Sprague August 17, 1856. To this union were born four children; Mrs.Rose Anson of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Florence Ackerson of this place, and Arthur and Delonson Bishop of Gaylord. He departed from this world July 6, 1917, being 83 years, one month and sixteen days old. Besides these he leaves to mourn their loss one sister, five grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
