He was the son of John and Margaret Bishop; he had one brother Rufus who passed to the other side seventeen years ago. When a boy he joined the Methodist church in Lancaster. He came to Michigan in 1867; was married to Ellen Turner in December of that year and settled on his farm in Sebewa. In 1892 he moved to the farm in Woodland township which has since been his home and united with the M.E.church here under the pastorate of Rev. Nease. He has been a member of this church twenty years. Mr.Bishop's health has failed this summer but he was bedfast only three weeks. He leaves to mourn their loss the wife, six grandchildren and three daughters, Mrs.Charles Lapo, Mr. Frank Guy and Miss Reava at home. Mr. Bishop has helped to make this part of the country what is now his farm, what it is from a new country covered with woods and dotted here and there with log houses. He was a prosperous up-to-date farmer setting the example of thrift, honesty and christian dealing. Although entreated by his children to leave the farm and hard work and move to town and take life a little less strenuous, still his best judgement kept him on the "dear old farm." The funeral was held Sunday at M.E. Church where he loved to attend for twenty years. The sermon was by the pastor Rev. Thos.Laity ad the choir furnished the music and interment make in Lakeside. CARD OF THANKS We wish hereby to extend our heart felt thanks and neighbors for the many kindnesses shown us in ur bereavement in the loss of our beloved husband and father. Mrs. E.D.
