November 25, 2023 BISHOP Frederick "Fred" Bishop: Born 12-17-35 in Belding, MI and passed away peacefully on 11-19-23 at Harbor Springs Poppen House in Muskegon, MI. Fred was the child of Melvin and Ila Bishop. He graduated from Belding High School and joined the United States Marine Corps and served on active duty from 1953-1957. Fred was well known for his strong work ethic...after leaving the Marine Corps he held several positions simultaneously before starting his own business; B and B Refuse Removal.He stayed active until a couple of months ago doing the things he loved; Driving cars for the Young's Chevrolet dealership, Ionia VFW, Marine Corps League,Masonic Temple and serving at LeValley Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Ila Bishop, his brother Ed Bishop, wives Vivian Bishop and Ellie Bishop, his daughter Connie Bishop, stepson Rex Leland, Grandson Andy Tower and Granddaughter Delaney May. Surviving is his sister Sue Kerjes, children Sally and David Gallagher, Julie Bishop, Dave and Amanda Bishop, Jim and Carol Tower and Dawn Fabian. Grandchildren include Joe and Jamie May,Jason and Sarah May, Matt and Kensey May, Carisa and Josh VanDuinen, Nick Bishop and Dulcie Bejarano, Samantha Bishop, Chandler Bishop and eighteen great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday Nov.25th at LeValley Methodist Church located at 4018 Kelsey Hwy., Ionia,MI 48846. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and the memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM. Fred requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ionia VFW Post 12082, 1131 E.Tuttle Road,Ionia,MI 48846.
