The funeral services for Mrs. Noah Bishop of Easton who was taken from us 
Sept. 20, were held Sept. 22 from the Easton M. E. church.  There was a large 
attendance, although the day was rainy and unpleasant.  All seemed to feel as 
though the community had lost one of its noblest women.  The services were 
conducted by the Rev. J. Destrix, pastor of Ludington M. E. church.

Mrs. Bishop had not enjoyed good health for a number of years, but did not 
give up that she was really sick until about eighteen months ago.  She 
gradually grew worse, all the time patiently bearing her suffering and pain 
with cheerfulness and Christian grace. 

In early childhood Mrs. Bishop moved to Michigan with relatives from one of 
the eastern states.  Her maiden name was Ellen M. Madison.  There was a family 
of nine children, five boys and four girls, she being the youngest.  She was 
married to Noah Bishop in the month of May, 1845 and united with the M. E. 
church in 1847, where she has ever since been a faithful worker for the cause 
of Christ.  Her Christian charity was very great, always doing for others, and 
especially a great friend to the poor and unfortunate.  She, with the aid of 
her good husband, brought up two orphan girls with a mother’s care and 
devotion, one being three years of age, the other then years of age when taken.

She has finished her work on earth, and gone to wear the white robe and starry 
crown that is laid up for the righteous at the right hand of God in Heaven.
