The Ionia Standard, Friday, June 8, 1917

DeForest W. Bissell died at his home west of Pewamo Wednesday night, at the 
age of 63 years.  The funeral was held at the residence at 2:00 o’clock Friday 
afternoon, Rev. E. E. Branch officiating.  Interment in East Plains cemetery.

Rev. E. E. Branch conducted the funeral service for DeForest W. Bissell at the 
home north of Pewamo Friday afternoon, and Mrs. John Hodgkins and Mrs. R. A. 
Colwell furnished the music.  There was a large attendance.  The bearers were 
William, Floyd and Joe Bissell, Eric Gee, Howard Townsend and B. A. Ludwick.  
Burial was in East Plains cemetery.
