Harry Dow Bissell, 85, of Pewamo, passed away July 4, 2012. He was born March 
13, 1927 in Ionia, the son of Joseph and Iva (Townsend) Bissell. He married 
Anita Sherman Feb. 5, 1949. Harry was a member of the American Legion in 
Hubbardston. He farmed all of his life in Pewamo.

Harry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Anita Bissell of Pewamo; 
children, Gary (Nancy-Jo) Bissell of Grand Ledge, Penny (Joe) Peiffer of 
Hubbardston, Kim (David) Bower of Portland and Lisa (Ray) Palmer of Ionia; 10 
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Betty Bissell of 
Pewamo.

He was preceded in death by one son, Denny; one brother, Clell; and one sister, 
Vada.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Rev. Marilyn Danielson officiating. Interment East Plains Cemetery. The 
family will receive friends and relatives 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the 
funeral home.

Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to Ionia or Lansing Hospice 
Alzheimer's Associations.

The family would like to sent special thanks to the staff and residence at 
Grand Haven Living Center for the wonderful care of their dad Harry. A memorial 
service for the staff and residence will be announced at a later date.
