Bittenbender, 76, retired farmer, died Sunday afternoon at his home in Orange township. He had been ill several months. He was born at Pulaski, September 23, 1885, the son of John and Inez Bittenbender, and in 1908 was married at Springport to Mabel Gregory. He lived in Springport until 1936 when he moved to the home at 5481 David highway. Mr. and Mrs. Bittenbender celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1958 and for the past several years had spent the winters in Florida. Mr. Bittenbender was a member of Parma Odd Fellow lodge. Surviving beside his wife, Mabel, are a son, Maurice B. Bittenbender of Placerville, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Claude Langridge of Rockford; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Estella Smith of Springport, and Mrs. Hazel Burley of Hanover. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Stone-Kauffman funeral home with interment at Tuttle cemetery.
