Mrs.Fred Bivins, of 927 Charles street, this city, passed away Sunday morning at 1:45 o'clock at St.Mary's hospital in Grand Rapids after an illness of six days. A year ago on Feb. 10 she suffered a broken hip in a fall and had fully recovered from that injury but developed a coronary thrombosis which resulted in her death. She was 72 years old. The daughter of James and Angela Estaub, she was born Margaret C. Estaub in Tiffin, Ohio on Jan. 24, 1882. With her parents she came to this county as an infant and here she spent her entire life. On April 2, 1902, she was united in marriage to Fred Bivins at Hubbardston. Mrs.Bivins was a member of St.Joseph's Catholic Church and of the St.Cecelia Circle of the Rosary Confraternity and was also a member of the local chapter of the Blue Star Mother.In April of 1952 she and Mr.Bivins celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Surviving are her husband, Fred, six sons, Robert and Carl of this city, Phillip of Coopersville, Earl of Mt.Pleasant and Fred,Jr., and Joseph of Grand Rapids, two daughters,Lucille (Mrs.Michael Pendrick) of Plainwell and Margaret (Mrs.Albert Hayes) of Grand Rapids, 19 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. The couples eldest son, Alfred preceded his Mother in death several years ago. The Huffman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and there the members of St.Joseph's congregation met on Tuesday evening at eight o'clock to recite the Rosary. Funeral service were held on Wednesday morning at ten o'clock from St. Joseph's church with the Pastor Fr. Charles Steves officiating at the Requiem Mass. Burial was made in St.Joseph's cemetery and pallbearers were Martin Engemann, Carl Rittersdorf, Robert Wood, Vern Wright, Harold Geisen and Charles Hansen.
