Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2002

Henry “Ray” Bixler, 88, of Lake Odessa passed away May 1, 2002 in Saranac.

He was born April 2, 1914 in Indiana, the son of Frank and Altha (Stanchfield) 
Bixler.  He went on to marry Berth Paddock Oct. 31, 1938 in Indiana.  Henry was 
a member of Saranac Community Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Carlie Carrick of Comstock Park; brothers, 
William (Delores) Bixler of Indiana and Ermal Bixler of Indiana; sisters, Olive 
Trowbridge of Indiana and Mildred (Albert) Lease of Indiana; grandchildren, 
Thomas (Laura) Carrick of Grand Rapids and Darci Carrick of California.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha on April 11, 1987; two sisters, 
Edna Enyart and Esther Hunt; and one brother, Ralph Bixler.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at Saranac Community Church 
with Rev. John Madvig officiating.  Anyone wishing may make a memorial 
contribution to Rockford Ambulance Wheelchair Van or Saranac Community Church.  
Envelopes are available at the funeral home.  Arrangements made by Lake Funeral 
Home in Saranac.
