She was born in Greenville on April 10, 1923, the daughter of Don M. and Daisy Mae Domigan Dickinson. She was married on Jan. 1, 1942, in Sheridan to Lawrence E. Black. She and her husband were charter members of Greenville Bible Methodist church and she served her church and her community as a servant. At her church she was organist and Sunday School teacher and superintendent. In her community she was a servant to all with her sewing and sheltering families in her home. She was artistic with her flowers, paints and sewing. She and her husband loved traveling all over the country together. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, on Dec. 16, 2005; and her son, Ronald, in 2004. She is survived by her children, Alberta and Nathan Burley of Cedar Springs, James and Dawn Black of Greenville, Melvin and Joyce Black of Muskegon; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Claribelle Green of Jenison, Martha Tiede of Greenville; brother, Don Dickinson of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were 11 a.m. today at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to the Greenville Bible Methodist Church memorial fund.
