Blackmar, an Insurance Agent Died in H. Haysmer’s Barber Shop. George H. Blackmar, a representative of the National Sick and Accident Insurance Co. of Detroit, who has been working in this vicinity for some time past, and who would appear to casual observer to have been in the best of health, died suddenly at the barber shop of Harvey Haysmer on the North side last Friday evening about 8:20 o’clock. Mr. Blackmar, who was boarding at the home of John Sayles on the North side had complained during the day but had been out looking after business as usual. About 8:00 o’clock in the evening he came walking up the street till he reached the barber shop and sat down in front and seemed to be in a bad way. After sitting there for a little time he arose and went into the shop, where he grew worse very rapidly. Realizing his condition, Mr. Blackmar asked Harvey to get his pencil and write the name and address of his brother down and this was scarcely accomplished when he passed into an unconscious condition from which he never rallied. Dr. Ferguson was hastily summoned, but on his arrival found him beyond help. The body was taken to the undertaking rooms of Wilson & Friedley and his brother was at once notified of his decease and arrived here Saturday evening to care for the remains. Justice Page conducted an inquest over the body and the jury after listening to the evidence returned a verdict that the death was the result of an acute attack of indigestion. The remains were taken to Grand Rapids Tuesday for interment and were accompanied by H.H. Blackmar and wife of Saginaw. Mrs. Blackmar, wife of the deceased is visiting in Paris, and will be notified by cable of his decease.
