Mark R. Blackmer, aged 45, of Clarksville, passed away April 20, 2009.  He was 
born July 31, 1963 in Ionia, the son of Robert and Sonja (Thorp) Blackmer.  He 
graduated from Ionia High School in 1981.  Mark married Denise Flowers June 
21, 1986.  He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.  Mark loved sports and 
Nascar.  He was a past wrestling coach and loved any sports his kids were 
involved in.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Denis Blackmer of Clarksville; 
children, Kylee Blackmer of Mt. Pleasant, Natalie Blackmer of Fort Collins, 
Colo.. and Mason Blackmer of Clarksville; his mother Sonja Blackmer of Ionia; 
brother Tim (Maria) Blackmer of Ionia; sister Robin (Raul) Alvarez of Lansing; 
mother- and father-in-law Lyle and Sharon Jackson of Clarksville and father-in-
law Charles Flowers II of Florida; brother-in-law Charles Flowers III of Grand 
Rapids; sisters-in-law Deanna (Randy) Everett of Clarksville and Debbie 
(Randy) Dintaman of Saranac; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and 
cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Robert Blackmer and 
grandparents, Jean and Paul Blackmer and Lucille and Durwood Thorp.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Shiloh Community Church with 
Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  The family will receive friends and 
relatives 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. 
at the church prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers you may make memorial 
contributions to the Children’s Education Fund.
