Times April 3, 1941 R.C.BLAIR DIES AT NEARLY 97 Robert C.Blair, 96, died Tuesday at the home of his grandson-in-law and granddaughter Mr and Mrs.A.W Hoch at 7306 Denker avenue, Los Angeles, Cal., with whom he had made his home since leaving Lake Odessa in 1922. Has he lived until May 9, he would have been 97 year old. He is also survived by two other granddaughters, Gertrude, and Mrs. Maude Pearson at 1905 Lakeland avenue, Sylvan Village, Pontiac, Mich.Masonic and G.A.R. services will be held at Patriotic hall in Los Angeles on Saturday. Mr. Blair was a Civil War veteran having served in the Army of the Potomac from 1862 to 1865 which service also included the famed three-day Battle of Gettysburg on July 3, 4, and 5, 1864. He had always take a very active interest in the G.A.R. He and Mrs.Blair came to Lake Odessa from Lansing on January 31, 1888, and opened up a restaurant and small store in connection. Later he had charge of the grocery department of the E.C. Tew & Sons store for many years. During their residence here, Mr.and Mrs.Blair were active in the Methodist church and Sunday school. Mrs. Blair died about 20 years ago. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1874, and of the I.O.O.F. since 1884, having also been a charter member of both local lodges.
