John Nelson Blake, 82. of Belding, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 
Spectrum Health in Greenville. John was born on Aug. 2. 1928 in Allerton, N.J., 
the son of Frank and Sarah Campbell Blake.

He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy. 
In earlier years he was a member of the Eagles Club in New Jersey. He enjoyed 
woodworking and was very talented in making many beautiful pieces of furniture. 
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and many 
friends around the neighborhood. John will be greatly missed.

He was married on June 13, 1953 in Los Angles to Letitia M. McGhee and she 
survives along with their children; Robert B and Kathleen Blake of Dunlap, 
Tenn., and Jacqueline and Don Culton of Albion, Wash.; his grandchildren; 
Robert and Amy Blake, Sara and Bruce Whipple, Kathryn and Jason Merritt, 
Leonard and Denise Bognar, Michael and Marjean Bognar; 17 great-grandchildren ; 
and one sister, Ann Byers of Virginia.

John was preceded by her parents, four brothers; Tristram, Frank, Thomas, 
Harold, and two sisters; Betty and Ruth. In keeping with his wishes cremation 
has taken place. A time for visitation and to share memories will be 2 to 4 
p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. 
Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer 
Society. Envelopes will be available a the funeral home.
