February 10, 2024 BLAKE Letitia "Letty" Blake of Belding, MI age age 87 passed away peacefully in her home on February 6 2024 surrounded by loved ones.Letty was born on May 19th, 1936 in Glasgow,Scotland.She made her way to the United States after the passing of her parents to be adopted vy her uncle and aunt, Archie and Letitia Rooney. In 1953, she married her one true love, John "Jack" Blake, and they had 2 children together, Robert "Bob" and Jacqueline. They spent their early years of marriage in New Jersey and in the late 190"s they moved to Belding, Michigan. In October 1979, Jack and Letty opened J&L Blake Adult Foster Care Home. She and aJack opened their home to the developmentally and physically disabled elder's of Ionia County, which she still had residents up until her final days. Letty was a true angel on this earth.her door was always open to her family, friends, and neighbors, especially Gale & Bonnie Christensen and David and deb Griebel, who later on became her best friends.No one would ever leave her house hungry or empty handed.She loved gardening, reading, cooking and collecting anything with pigs. Lots and lots of pigs! Letty was preceded in death by her husband, John"Jack" and son,Robert "Bob". those surviving her passing and missing her dearly are daughter, Jacqueline Blake Culton; daughter-in-law, Kathleen "Katy" Blake; and her grandchildren: Robert "BJ" Blake (Amy), Sara Whipple (Bruce) Kathryn "Katie" Blake, Leonard Bognar and Michael Bognar. Also, Letty's foster daughters,Anita,Brenda, and Katherine. She was the world's best great-grandmother, making sure that she showed all of her great-grandchildren what it was like to be loved unconditionally. Whether it was words of advice, sometimes corny; singing their accomplishments or always making sure they had frosted Santa cookies for Christmas.She did it all and so much more. Funeral services for Letty will be held at 2 PM on Monday, February 12 at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with visitation form 12-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Green Cemetery, Belding. A cheesecake dessert celebration of life will be held at Green Corners Baptist Church, 4998 Belding Rd, Belding, following th graveside service until 5:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ionia County Commission on Aging, 115 Hudson St., Ionia,MI, 48846 in memory of Letty Blake.
