Herbert O. Blakely, 57, of 225 W. Potter, Lansing, died Tuesday in St. Lawrence 
Hospital, Lansing.  He was born July 2, 1924, in Sunfield, the son of Norman 
and Lera Fought Blakely.  He attended Kalamazoo Central High School, and was 
married to Madonna Kathleen Kenyon on Feb. 23, 1946, in Lake Odessa.

He was employed at Oldsmobile in Lansing for 17 years, and was retired athletic 
official in the Lansing area.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Michael and Gordon, both of Lansing, 
and David of Lowell; and two daughters, Mrs. Janice Baszler of Ladoga, Ind., 
and Kathleen Blakely of Mason.

Five grandchildren and two brothers, the Rev. Harold Blakely of Sebawaing and 
Harold Blakely of Madison, Wisc., and one sister, Mrs. Hazel Bos of Parchment, 
also survive.  One brother preceded him in death in Sept. 1971.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. from the Pickens-Koops Funeral 
Chapel, Lake Odessa, with Richard Dike of Lansing officiating.  Burial will be 
in Lakeside Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday and 
Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
