Blanchard, on Grant Street. She had been confined to her bed two weeks as the result of a fall on the sidewalk as she was on her way to the Methodist church to attend a supper being held there. Mrs. Blanchard was born in Portland on the site now occupied by the Hotel Divine, 86 years ago. Her father, David Simmons, concocted a hotel there at the time of her birth. In early womanhood she was united in marriage to E. W. Blanchard, who died in 1913. Mrs. Blanchard was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, her grandfather, Joshua Simmons, having been a Revolutionary war veteran, to whose memory a bronze marker was placed on his grave by Lansing chapter, D. A. R., in the Simmons cemetery in Eagle township two years ago. Besides the son at whose home her death occurred, Mrs. Blanchard is survived by another son, David, of Antigo, Wisc., and one daughter Mrs. Cora Whitney of Adrian. Funeral services will be held from the Methodist church Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, in charge of Rev. W. E. Doty. Burial will be made in Portland Cemetery.
