LUCY (O'BEIRNE) BLANCHARD
IONIA- Lucy (O'Beirne) Blanchard, 83, of 241 East Lincoln Ave., Ionia died April 18,
at the Clark Memorial Methodist Home in Grand Rapids following an extended illness.

She was born June 5, 1904, in Ionia county, the daughter of Arno and Adelle (Boyd) 
O'Breirn of rural Muir.

She married Marvin Blanchard of Hersey on June 29, 1929; he preceded her in death in
1972. Alice, a daughter, preceded her in death in 1950.

She was a graduate of Ionia High School and the University of Michigan, and she
taught for several years in Michigan public schools.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ionia and a member of the 
administrative board. She was a district officer in United Methodist Women for eight
years and a member of Church Women United since 1961

Surviving are two sons, Willard of Vienna, Va., Ill., six grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the first United Methodist Church in Ionia on
Thursday at 11 a.m., the Rev. Keith A. Bovee officiating.

The family will be at the Hull Memorial Chapel in Muir from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7
to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Burial will be at Edwardsburg, Michigan cemetery at 4 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial fund has been established at the first United Methodist Church in
Ionia.
