Former Odessa Boy Is Killed

Aubrey Blauvelt, 14, Former Resident, Killed While at Play at Coopersville

A funeral service was held at the Congregational church at Lake Odessa recently
for Aubrey Blauvelt, fourteen-year-old boy, a former resident of Lake Odessa,
who was killed in an accident while at play, hoisting a rope used in an old
slaughterhouse at Coopersville.  The body was brought to Lake Odessa, following
a funeral service at Coopersville, and interment was made at Lakeside Cemetery.
 Rev. J.E. Cook was in charge.  Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. R.W.
Goodemoot and Mrs. Leon Gilson.

He was born April 11th, 1910, at St. Joseph, Michigan.  Death came suddenly
December 23rd, 1924, while at play, thus cutting short a happy young life at the
age of fourteen years, eight months and twelve days.  His early childhood was
spent at Lake Odessa with his mother.  Here he was a member of the Boy Scouts
and played in the orchestra.  He was a faithful attendant at the Congregational
church.  About two years ago he went to live with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Blauvelt, of Coopersville.  While here he made many friends in the
neighborhood and later, when he entered high school, became a favorite among his
schoolmates.  He was a member of the Athletic Association and played in the High
School band.  It can be truly said of Aubrey that once he formed a friendship,
he always kept it.

Left to mourn his untimely death are his father and mother, grandfather, uncles,
aunts and a host of friends.

The body was laid to rest beside that of his grandmother in Lakeside cemetery
