John Blauwiekel, age 87, retired farmer of Pewamo, died Monday, May 2, 2005.

Born in Pewamo, Oct. 14, 1917, to Nick and Netta (VanderJagt) Blauwiekel, John 
lived in the Pewamo area all his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic 
Church and the Fowler-Pewamo-Westphalia V.F.W. Post #3733.

On October 5, 1944 he married Marie Bower, who preceded him in death in August 
1996. Her served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska during World War 
II. He enjoyed visiting his neighbors, grandchildren and attending cross-
country and track meets.

Surviving are his children, Ruth (Curt Taylor) Blauwiekel of Vermont, Peter 
(Brenda) Blauwiekel of Fowler and William (Sheri) Blauwiekel of Kansas, five 
grandchildren, Anna Taylor, Beth and Joe Blauwiekel, Todd and Troy Blauwiekel; 
and two brothers Lawrence Blauwiekel of Pewamo and Harry (Diane) Blauwiekel of 
Grand Rapids.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Beth.

Funeral Mass will be celebrate 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Joseph Catholic 
Church, 126 East St., Pewamo; burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with the 
Rev. Fr. Charlon Mason officiating.

The family will receive friends 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9p.m. Wednesday 
and Thursday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, 11112 W. Ionia, 
Fowler, with the Rosary prayed at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday, 3 p.m. Thursday 
and a Scripture Service 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
