All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Pat Blood pat.blood@gmail.com January 28, 2013, 3:55 pm Ionia Sentinel Standard – 14 December 1923 Miss Hattie Bliss, a former resident of Ionia, died Thursday at her home in Fairmont, Va., and the body, accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Emma Bliss Fleming and daughter Flossie will arrive in Ionia at 4:23 Saturday and the funeral arrangements will be made at that time. Miss Bliss, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bliss, were some of the early pioneers of Lowell where her father was engaged in the manufacture of woolen goods, later he sold his interest and came to Ionia and started a similar enterprise on what is now known as Bliss Street which was named for him. Miss Bliss was an excellent seamstress and worked for Mrs. H. G. Wright as long as she was in business. About 25 years ago she moved to West Virginia where she lived until her death.
