Ionia Daily Sentinel – 6 October 1928
Roswell E. Bliss, 87, died at his home in Belding this week and the funeral 
services were held from the Adventist church Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock.  
Mr. Bliss was one of the Civil War veterans, having enlisted in the First 
Mounted Riflemen in New York and served in the war, being engaged a part of 
the time in carrying dispatches to General Grant and experienced many 
dangerous incidents.  He had lived on the farm, where he died for 50 years and 
is survived by one child, Mrs. Bertha Bliss, who lived with him.
