Old Resident Gone to His Last Rest

Edward D. Bliss, seventy, and for many years a resident of this county and 
vicinity died at his home southeast of Belding last Saturday.  He was born in 
1844 at Postageartle, New York.  In 1862 he came with his parents to Macomb 
county, Michigan and has since resided in this state.  He enlisted early in the 
civil war and remained until its close.

In the fall of 1865 Mr. Bliss was married to Miranda Norton and the couple came 
soon afterward to Rockford, Kent county.  They resided there until 1889 when 
they moved to Belding where they have since resided.  Mrs. Bliss died in 1893 
and Edward D. later married Mrs. Lena Acker.

Mr. Bliss has spent a very useful life in this community and he will be greatly 
missed in the neighborhood where he resided.  Funeral services were held at the 
house Monday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. W.A. Biss officiating.

[Transcriber's Note:  There is a notation on the obituary card that he was 
buried in Otisco Cemetery.]
