Born March 10, 1881, in Portland, Ind; he was the son of Christian and Sarah Spect Blocher. He lived in Missouri a short time before going to North Dakota where he lived 18 years. He was married in 1933 at Kensal, N.D., to Mabel Strouse. In 1934 they moved to a farm in Kent county in the Alto area and was an active farmer in the area until his retirement four years ago. Surviving are the wife, Mabel, six sons, George of Clarksville, Loren of Ogden, Utah, Lavern of Grandville, LeRoy of Luther, Leo and Paul of Alto; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Haight of Whitehall and Mrs. Betty Craig of Clarksville; 26 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Clarksville Bible church. Rev. James Bailard and Rev. Richard Erdman will officiate and interment will be at Merriman cemetery at Alto.
