The Lake Odessa Wave, Thursday, December 27, 1928
Melvin Blossom was born in Monroe county, New York, July 4, 1868, and passed 
away from apoplexy at Grace hospital in Detroit December 20, 1928, aged 60 
years, 5 months, 16 days.  Mr. Blossom was married to Lucy Almeada Parker 
October 23, 1890.  Mrs. Blossom passed away at Lake Odessa October 9, 1928.  
To this union were born four children one dying in infancy.

Mr. Blossom has lived in and around Lake Odessa practically all his life.  He 
was a Christian man, early giving his life to the service of his Heavenly 
Father.  He was a member of the Calvary U.B. church from which his funeral 
services were held Saturday, December 22nd.

The deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Earl Pettengill of Perry, 
Michigan, Mrs. Ed Layman of Ann Arbor and Mrs. Fred Philo of Detroit, four 
grandchildren and one brother, Charles Blossom of Portland, Michigan and other 
relatives and friends.

The funeral was held at the Calvary U. B. church Saturday at 1:30, Rev. Early 
and Rev. M. H. Dawson officiated.  Mrs. Early sang two appropriate songs.  
Burial was at Lake Side beside the wife, who so recently passed away.

We wish to express at this time our sincere thanks to the many friends who 
contributed flowers atthe time of the death of our beloved father, especially 
do we thank Rev. Early and Rev. Dawson, also Mrs. Early for the singing and 
all those who assisted in any other way.
