Bluemly passed away Saturday morning, August 24, at her home in Butternut, after having been in failing health for some time, having been afflicted with cancer. She was 57 years of age. The funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at two o’clock and were very largely attended. Rev. J. H. Cornelius of Sheridan officiated. The many flowers attested the attachment and sympathy of the wide circle of friends. Interment was made in the family lot in the Carson City cemetery. Blanche Nellie, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chancellor E. Higbee, was born November 7, 1877, at the farm home of her parents in Orleans township, Ionia county, Michigan. She attended the rural school near her home and later the high school in the city of Ionia. After completing her work in the Ionia school she taught in her home district for a time. At an early age she united with the Ionia Baptist church, to which she belonged at the time of her death. On September 10, 1901 she was united in marriage to Herman R. Bluemly of Easton township, Ionia county. One son, Corris Chancellor, was born to them. On January 8, 1927 he met with a serious accident which resulted in his death. Mrs. Bluemly was always prominent in social and community life, being active in many different organizations. At the time of her death she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge at Crystal, Order of the Eastern Star at Carson City, White Shrine of Jerusalem at Alma, Butternut Grange and Lady Maccabees and the Montcalm County Pomona Grange, having been an officer in several of them. She was always interested in helping others, no services being too great for her to perform. Her friends were always near and dear to her. Besides her husband she is survived by her sister, Mrs. Grace Hart, a niece, Mrs. Marjorie Hart MacRae, a nephew, William Hart, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
